Surviving An Affair
Despite the fact that affairs are the biggest reason couples divorce, surviving an affair is possible although difficult. It is extremely painful to live with the feeling of betrayal that goes with knowing that your spouse has been involved in an affair with someone else.
It is possible to successfully rebuild a marriage after an affair has been unearthed, however. The task will be considerably higher if the partner who had the affair blames the other spouse for causing the affair, or if the partner will not refuse to cut off contact with the third party lover. Another sign of trouble ahead is if the guilty party refuses to speak openly about the affair.
To the contrary, there is hope to save the message if certain other behaviors are exhibited by the spouse who had the affair. If your partner informed you his/her own about the affair, that is a good sign that he or she is sorry it happened and promises that it is over. If your partner agrees to never see the third party lover again, that is a hopeful sign that the marriage can be reconciled. Also, if your partner agrees to answer questions about the affair and better still if they agree to attend counseling, there is a good chance the two of you can get to the bottom of why the affair happened. In addition, if the two of you, after having figured out the problems that led to the affair, agree to make changes in your lives to resolve those problems, then you have a good chance to put the marriage back together.
